The crack running through it dates back to Nnoitra's betrayal, when he struck her by surprise before throwing her out of Las Noches. That wound caused her amnesia and her regression into a child. The cracked skull alone tells the whole backstory of this Bleach character, which is why it matters so much in a cosplay.
