En resumen: NARUTO NINJA CARDS, la primera app de cartas digitales de la franquicia Naruto, se lanzó el 21 de agosto de 2026 en todo el mundo, salvo en Japón y China continental. Gratuita en iOS, Android y navegador, la firma Sekai, un estudio de doce personas repartido entre París y Tokio, con licencia de TV TOKYO.
¿Qué es exactamente NARUTO NINJA CARDS?
Es una app de colección de cartas digitales dedicada a Naruto, con el subtítulo The Digital Collection. Abres pergaminos que contienen cartas, completas colecciones de personajes y compites con otros jugadores en actividades en tiempo real. No hay mazos que construir ni duelos al estilo Hearthstone: el corazón del juego es la colección, lo que lo hace mucho más accesible que un juego de cartas tradicional.
El proyecto no salió de la nada. Un teaser publicado en X en mayo de 2025 acumuló varios cientos de miles de vistas según el estudio, y la app funcionó en lanzamiento progresivo desde el 5 de febrero de 2026. El balance de esa fase, con cifras del comunicado de lanzamiento: 500 000 descargas antes del estreno mundial, un 93 % de ellas orgánicas, es decir, sin publicidad. Para una app sin campaña de marketing, eso es la demanda hablando.
¿En qué países y plataformas está disponible la app?
En todas partes, con dos excepciones: Japón y China continental, donde la app no se distribuye. México, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, España y el resto de América y Europa están cubiertos desde el 21 de agosto de 2026. La descarga es gratuita en App Store y Google Play, con compras integradas, y el juego también corre directo en el navegador desde la web del juego, sin instalar nada.
Un detalle que conviene matizar: Sekai presenta NINJA CARDS como la única app de Naruto gratuita en ambas tiendas. Es la fórmula del comunicado, pero Naruto x Boruto Ninja Voltage de Bandai Namco sigue en línea y también es gratuita. La primicia que sí se sostiene es el formato: ninguna app de la franquicia había explorado las cartas digitales hasta ahora.
¿Quién es Sekai, el estudio de doce personas detrás de la app?
Un equipo independiente de doce personas repartido entre París y Tokio, con integrantes de Francia, España, Italia, Reino Unido, Ucrania, China, Haití, Argelia y Rumanía. Un estudio de fans en el sentido literal, que pasó dieciocho meses convenciendo a los dueños de los derechos en Japón. «Pasamos un año y medio en Japón convenciendo a los propietarios de la propiedad intelectual de que confiaran en nosotros», cuenta Samy Therain, director de Sekai, en el comunicado de lanzamiento.
Esa confianza llegó lejos: TV TOKYO, la cadena histórica del anime, no solo concedió la licencia sino que además invirtió en el estudio, junto a Mike Shinoda de Linkin Park, el pívot de la NBA Rudy Gobert, Makers Fund y 776 Ventures. Hiroaki Saiki, de TV TOKYO, lo resume así: «la pasión sincera del equipo de Sekai por Naruto resuena de verdad entre los fans». No es un cartel que se vea a menudo detrás de un estudio de doce personas.
¿Qué trae la app en el lanzamiento?
Cartas con los personajes de la serie, ilustraciones dibujadas a mano nunca mostradas hasta ahora y easter eggs pensados para quienes se saben la serie de memoria. El comunicado también anuncia una incorporación progresiva de personajes, desde Naruto hasta Boruto, así que la colección seguirá creciendo temporada tras temporada.
Las ilustraciones inéditas son el argumento más sólido del conjunto. La web del juego muestra varias en dos estados, el boceto a lápiz y la ilustración terminada, lo que da a las cartas un aire de celuloide de animación en lugar de captura de pantalla:
El tono tampoco es siempre solemne: una de las ilustraciones muestra a Naruto sorprendido en el baño, en plena humareda de invocación. Ese es el tipo de guiño que el estudio llama sus easter eggs, y delata a un equipo que de verdad vio la serie en lugar de licenciar un banco de imágenes.
En cuanto a modos, el juego gira en el lanzamiento en torno a la colección, un modo llamado Scroll of Sounds y eventos semanales con clasificaciones locales y globales. La hoja de ruta publicada en la web del juego lista lo que viene después, sin fechas: un modo en solitario por niveles (Waterfall Trial), jefes de clan en cooperativo contra las Bestias con Cola, aventuras por las aldeas ninja (Journeys), un modo clasificatorio por temporadas y un modo draft. Todo eso es un plan, no algo jugable hoy, y prefiero decirlo claro.

No juegan en la misma liga, y en 2027 convivirán los dos. NINJA CARDS es una app de colección disponible hoy, gratuita.
