The One Piece Card from the Grévin Museum: the Luffy OP13-001 Promo

Published on July 13, 2026·Updated on August 16, 2026·By Antoine Brault

A French cosplay and manga goods shop since 2023. We try on the costumes we sell, and we write about the series we actually follow. About us.

Cabaret du Soleil One Piece area at the Grévin museum in Paris with the Straw Hat Crew statues

Quick answer: The Grévin museum One Piece card is a Bandai promo card from the One Piece Card Game, a Monkey D. Luffy OP13-001 with an exclusive "Cabaret du Soleil" illustration. It was given free to the first 50,000 visitors of the One Piece exhibition that opened on June 26, 2026 at Grévin. Overwhelmed by the crowds, the museum suspended the giveaway on June 28 and has promised a larger print run.

In a single weekend, a collectible card managed to overwhelm a Paris museum. On June 26, 2026, One Piece entered the Grévin museum, and the Luffy card handed out at the entrance triggered a rush so intense that the museum had to close its doors on the spot. Here is what this card really is, how to get one now that the giveaway has changed, what it is worth, and what the exhibition has in store.

What is the Grévin museum One Piece card?

On the anime side, the series has entered its most anticipated arc in twenty-five years: we covered the Elbaph arc, the island of the giants and the cursed prince Loki.

It is a promotional card from the One Piece Card Game, the trading card game published by Bandai. It is a Monkey D. Luffy, reference OP13-001, a Leader card. The Grévin version is exactly the same playable card, but with a brand new alternate illustration: Luffy running through the museum's baroque hall, with the "INCROYABLE Grévin PARIS" logo and the "Cabaret du Soleil" sign. Born from the collaboration between the Grévin museum and Toei Animation, it carries the mentions "NOT FOR SALE" and "BANDAI MADE IN JAPAN FR" on the back, the mark of a French print run. The preview visuals released before the opening actually carried a "SAMPLE" watermark.

Gameplay-wise, nothing changes compared to the standard Luffy OP13-001: two-color Red and Green Leader, 4 Life, 5,000 power, Strike attribute, Supernovas and Straw Hat Crew types. Its effect gives the whole crew a power bonus when you have few DON cards left. This alt art stays perfectly tournament legal, which is rare for a souvenir card. On Cardmarket, it is listed among the "Unnumbered Promos" as version V.1, one of the six catalogued editions of OP13-001. No illustrator has been officially credited. That dual status, collector's item AND playable card, explains part of the frenzy.

How do you get the Grévin Luffy promo card?

The card is given away, not sold. The original rule: one free copy for each of the first 50,000 visitors holding a valid ticket, while stocks last, one card per ticket. No online sales, no other channel, being physically at the museum was mandatory.

One detail caught a lot of people out, and few articles pointed it out: only tickets bought directly on grevin-paris.com between June 26 and June 30 qualified for the card. Tickets bought from a reseller, through a partner site or through a company benefits scheme such as a works council or Edenred were not eligible. If you were after the card, where you bought counted as much as when.

Since the suspension, the rules have been changing. The museum announced it would ultimately hand out more cards than planned and that new terms would be communicated. So before booking a ticket hoping to get the card, check the official status of the giveaway on the Grévin website, because as these lines are written it is still on hold.

Why was the card giveaway suspended?

Because the success went beyond anything the museum had anticipated. Just two days after opening, on Sunday June 28, 2026, Grévin suspended the card giveaway "until further notice". On the Saturday, part of the day had already sold out, with the museum turning people away.

The mechanics are familiar but they have rarely reached this scale for a simple card: the promise of a free, exclusive and playable item, backed by the best selling manga license of the moment, attracted as many fans as resellers there to build up stock. The result was unmanageable crowds and a frozen giveaway while the setup gets reworked. The museum preferred to stop rather than serve a minority.

How much is the Grévin One Piece card worth?

From the opening weekend, copies showed up between €600 and €800 on eBay, Leboncoin and Cardmarket, with RTBF spotting listings "starting at €600" on eBay. One warning though: these are prices asked by sellers, not sales confirmed at that level. A listed price is not a paid price, and the market for a card this new is highly speculative.

Cardmarket's indicators, based on real transactions, tell a more measured story. In early July 2026, the listing shows 61 copies for sale, a listing floor at €700, but a price trend, calculated on sales, around €595, and a 30-day average of roughly €469. The first seller offers ranged between €700 and €745, with the sealed version costing no more than a raw ungraded one. The curve says it all: starting around €280 on June 26, up to €510 on the 28th, then around €547 in early July.

Price benchmarkAmount
Listings at the peak (June 26-28)€600 to €800 (asking prices)
Cardmarket listing floor (early July)€700
Cardmarket price trend (on sales)around €595
Cardmarket 30-day averagearound €469

What followed was instructive. As soon as a larger print run was announced on June 29, the resellers' asking prices stopped holding and prices dropped. The lesson is simple: an exclusive is only worth a lot as long as it stays rare. If Grévin ends up handing out far more than the 50,000 cards planned, the value will settle down accordingly. For a collector, the real value will sit in sealed copies in perfect condition, with PSA grading only making sense if the card gains significant value, not in a panic buy at €700.

What is there to see in the One Piece exhibition at the Grévin museum?

Life-size statues of the Straw Hat Crew in the One Piece exhibition at the Grévin museum

The exhibition is called the "Cabaret du Soleil", a space of more than 80 square meters in a Parisian music hall atmosphere, with lighting and a soundtrack. It holds ten life-size statues of the Straw Hat Crew, Luffy up front on a small stage lit with bulbs, Zoro sitting at a table, Nami, Sanji, Chopper and the rest of the gang. They are the first Japanese animation characters to enter Grévin.

One point many people miss: these statues are not made of wax, unlike the rest of the museum. They were entirely designed and manufactured in Japan under the supervision of Toei Animation and Grévin, and they wear real fabric clothes. The set itself got a Parisian touch from the museum's teams. The installation is permanent, announced until late 2029 according to the museum.

One Piece, the number one phenomenon in France in 2026

This madness around a card does not come out of nowhere. In 2026, One Piece is crushing the French manga market: the series tops the sales charts month after month, with around 49 million copies sold in France and more than 600 million worldwide, which makes it the best selling manga in history. The French volume 113 is due on September 23, 2026.

Add season 2 of the Netflix live action released in March 2026, with a season 3 already confirmed, and you get a work that is everywhere at once. The Grévin card is just one more symptom: when a license reaches that level, a simple illustrated piece of cardboard becomes a nationally coveted object.
