Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale: the full September 5-6 schedule

Published on August 12, 2026·By Antoine Brault

A French cosplay and manga goods shop since 2023. We try on the costumes we sell, and we write about the series we actually follow. About us.

In short: the Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale runs Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time, worldwide and with no ticket required. On the menu: Mega Mewtwo X then Mega Mewtwo Y in Super Mega Raids, the Pokémon GO debuts of Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox and Mega Greninja, and unlimited Remote Raids all weekend.

What exactly is the GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale?

It is the global conclusion of the Pokémon GO summer: after the in-person GO Fests and July's global event, Scopely closes the 2026 season with a full week dedicated to Mega Evolution, from August 31 to September 6. The weekday stretch is called Mega Ascension, the closing weekend is the Mega Finale, and all of it is playable from home.

The event page does not hold back, promising the most Mega event in Pokémon GO history. Behind the tagline, the content delivers: three Mega Evolutions never seen in the game, both Mega Mewtwo forms on the same weekend, eight rotating habitats and a GO Pass with branching paths. For a free event, that is a dense schedule.

When does the Mega Finale take place, and at what time?

Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. There is no time zone math to do: whether you play in London, New York or Sydney, the event follows your phone's clock. The Mega Ascension warm-up week runs from Monday, August 31 at 10 a.m. to Friday, September 4 at 11:59 p.m., local time as well.

Two details that spare you bad surprises. The event raids actually run from August 31 at 12:01 a.m. to September 6 at 11:59 p.m. And for the whole period, Daily Encounters, five-star Raids, Shadow Raids, Raid Hours and the Season's Spotlight Hours are paused: the game switches entirely to Mega mode for a week.

Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie: which one should you pick?

From August 31, a branching Timed Research asks you to choose Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie, the three Kalos first partners. That choice sets the rewards of your GO Pass: Mega Finale and the Mega Evolution you will be working toward: Mega Chesnaught in Grass and Fighting, Mega Delphox in Fire and Psychic, or Mega Greninja in Water and Dark.

The three GO Pass Mega Finale paths: Chespin to Mega Chesnaught, Fennekin to Mega Delphox, Froakie to Mega Greninja

These three Megas are making their Pokémon GO debuts, one year after being created for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, released on Switch in October 2025. My pick has been settled for ages: Froakie, without a second of hesitation. Greninja carries ten years of fan-favorite status, and its Mega hanging from a giant water shuriken is the most spectacular of the three. The free pass contains enough Mega Energy for one Mega Evolution, which is all you need to walk away with it.

And if first partners speak to you more than raids do, our in-house nod is easy to find: the Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur 3D poster at 29.99 euros, rated 5/5 across 35 reviews, does the same exercise with the Kanto trio.

Are the Mega Mewtwo X and Y Super Mega Raids worth it?

Mega Mewtwo X appears on Saturday, September 5 and Mega Mewtwo Y on Sunday, September 6, in Super Mega Raids at select Gyms only, while the others host regular Mega Raids. Every Mewtwo caught from these battles comes with a special background themed after Mega Evolution. It is a comeback rather than a debut, both forms having already opened the summer.

The weekend's real gift fits in one line from the event page: there will be no limit on Remote Raids from Saturday, September 5 through Sunday, September 6, 2026. Chaining both forms from your couch is exactly what recent GO Fests were missing. Add a CP boost for every Mega-Evolved Pokémon across both days, and you have a genuine reason to keep the app open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mewtwo unsurprisingly holds a prime spot in our top 15 strongest Pokémon. And for raiding eight hours straight without losing your earbuds, the Mewtwo AirPods case at 19.99 euros, 4.7/5 across 34 reviews, remains our most on-theme accessory for the weekend.

How does the eight-habitat rotation work?

Eight habitats share the weekend: four on Saturday, four on Sunday, each active twice for one hour. Wild encounters and Mega Raid bosses change with every rotation, and Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie appear in all habitats. Here is the full schedule, in local time.

Shiny versions are in play across the event encounters. A field tip: mark down the two slots of the habitat you care about in advance. Miss Skyline Roosts at noon on Sunday and you are waiting until 4 p.m. to see Mega Dragonite again, with the event closing at 6 p.m.

Is the free GO Pass enough, or do you need the Deluxe?

For a casual player, the free pass is plenty: encounters with your chosen partner and its special background, Candy, Stardust, XP and enough Mega Energy for one Mega Evolution. The GO Pass Deluxe adds bonus Candy and XP in Mega Raids, better Shiny odds, enough Mega Energy to reach Super Max Level and an avatar T-shirt matching your starter.

The pass climbs to rank 100, where an encounter with your partner's final evolution and its special background awaits, and bonus rewards then repeat up to rank 600. On pricing, let us be precise about what is confirmed and what is not: the event page shows no price and points to the game's Web Store. Specialist outlets report 16.49 euros for the Deluxe and 21.99 euros for a Deluxe+ that grants ten instant ranks. My weekend-player take: keep your 16.49 euros, this event's free content is already unusually generous.

Why does this finale open a packed month for Pokémon?

Because the calendar is no accident: the Mega Finale wraps on September 6, ten days before the worldwide launch of the Pokémon 30th anniversary products, set for September 16, 2026. We covered what is coming in our article on Pokémon's 30th anniversary, and the fall looks dense, between new TCG sets and events stacking up, like the PokéXciting stamp rally planned for mid-September across Southeast Asia.

Crowd of Pokémon GO players gathered with community flags at a GO Fest 2026 event

One last word on the social side: Super Mega Raids are won in groups, and local raid communities always fill up the week before this kind of weekend. It is the right time to join the one in your city. And if the event puts Kalos or Kanto back on your mind outside the screen, our Pokémon corner is right here, from keychains to plushies.

Frequently asked questions about the GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale

Is the GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale paid?
No. The event is open to everyone with no ticket, and the GO Pass: Mega Finale has a free track with real rewards, including the Mega Energy for one Mega Evolution. Only the GO Pass Deluxe costs money, around 16.49 euros according to prices reported by specialist outlets.

Do you need to travel to a city like for the summer GO Fests?
No. Unlike the in-person GO Fests held earlier in 2026, the Mega Finale is a global event playable anywhere: your neighborhood, your park or your couch all work, with Remote Raids unlimited on both days.

Did Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox and Mega Greninja already exist?
Not in Pokémon GO. These three Mega Evolutions were created for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, released on Switch in October 2025, and the Mega Finale marks their debuts in the mobile game, one year later.

Are Remote Raids really unlimited?
Yes, on September 5 and 6: the cap is lifted for the whole weekend. During the Mega Ascension week, from August 31 to September 4, the Remote Raid Pass limit already rises to 30. Event raids run from August 31 at 12:01 a.m. to September 6 at 11:59 p.m., local time.

What happens to Raid Hours during the event?
They are skipped. Daily Encounters, five-star Raids, Shadow Raids, Raid Hours and Spotlight Hours are paused from August 31 to September 6, while Mega Raids take over the whole board.
