Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle lands on Netflix on September 28

Published on September 15, 2026·By Antoine Brault

A French cosplay and manga goods shop since 2023. We try on the costumes we sell, and we write about the series we actually follow. About us.

In short: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle lands on Netflix on Monday, September 28, 2026, in the United States, France and additional regions. The film has been streaming on Crunchyroll almost everywhere since July 28, so for American subscribers Netflix is a second home, while for France it is the very first one.

When does Infinity Castle arrive on Netflix, and at what time?

September 28, 2026. Netflix puts its new titles online at midnight Pacific time, which means 3 a.m. on the East Coast and 9 a.m. in France. The United States and France are confirmed, and Netflix has announced additional regions without publishing the full list yet. This page will be updated as soon as it lands.

The film runs 2 hours and 35 minutes, so plan a proper movie night rather than a quick episode before bed. It streams subbed and dubbed: the English dub cast returns from the series, and the film reached streaming with dubs produced in 16 languages.

Why did France wait fourteen months longer than the United States?

Because of the French media chronology law, which forces a legal delay between a theatrical release and streaming platforms. When Crunchyroll put the film online worldwide on July 28, 2026, three territories were missing: Japan, mainland China and France. French viewers, who packed theaters back in September 2025, spent two months watching the rest of the world stream it.

Specialist outlets expected worse: Dexerto estimated a French streaming release no earlier than February 2027. Netflix beat every forecast by announcing September 28, 2026, with both the subtitled version and the French dub from day one.

Where can you stream the film depending on your country?

It depends entirely on where you live. In the United States you now get a choice of two services. In France, Netflix will be the only one. In Latin America, Spain and most other countries, Crunchyroll has carried the film since July 28.

Japan remains the exception: no streaming platform has been announced there yet. And Netflix's arrival takes nothing away from Crunchyroll: wherever both services carry the film, it stays available on both.

What does the film cover, and should you rewatch the series first?

Infinity Castle is the first part of the trilogy adapting the final arc of Koyoharu Gotouge's manga. It picks up exactly where the Hashira Training arc ends: Muzan strikes at the Ubuyashiki estate and the Demon Slayer Corps is pulled into his fortress. This first chapter centers on Akaza's return against Tanjiro and Giyu, with Shinobu's own confrontation running in parallel.

If your last rewatch was in 2024, go through at least the end of Hashira Training before pressing play: the opening half hour throws you straight into the action with no recap. We covered how the series ended and what the trilogy adapts in a dedicated article, and if you wonder why Muzan fears Tanjiro's earrings, the story of the hanafuda earrings is here.

Behind the scenes, nothing changes: Haruo Sotozaki directs and studio ufotable animates, the same team as the series and Mugen Train. Shinobu opens the film, and her fight is the one that had theaters holding their breath.

Which box office records did the film actually break?

Nearly all of them. Infinity Castle earned 793.5 million dollars worldwide according to Box Office Mojo, making it the highest-grossing Japanese film in history, ahead of Mugen Train's 506 million. It is also the first Japanese film to pass 100 billion yen in worldwide receipts.

In North America, it became the highest-grossing non-English international film ever, taking a record Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon had held since 2000, per Anime News Network. In France, 339,885 admissions on day one: no Japanese animated film had ever sold that many tickets in a single day there, and it passed 925,050 admissions in under a week according to Manga News.

On the shop side, we see these waves land every time: a Netflix release sends people straight back to cosplay planning. The Tanjiro wig is our most ordered Demon Slayer piece, 4.7 out of 5 across 46 reviews at 16.99 euros. "Quality is what's expected from the wig's price. Glued hairline was installed for mine," wrote Rebecca Green, a British customer, in December 2025. The Shinobu costume sits at 4.7 out of 5 across 26 reviews for 29.99 euros, and the Giyu Tomioka costume costs the same if you want the film's duo.

When do parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy come out?

No date has been announced. The only solid signal comes from an ufotable teaser about upcoming projects: part 2 is absent from the 2026 lineup, which places its release in 2027 at the earliest according to CBR. The first film took roughly three and a half years to produce, and the studio has a track record of delaying rather than rushing. The same specialist press does not expect part 3 before the end of the decade.

In other words, the Netflix release comes at the perfect moment: you have plenty of time to watch or rewatch chapter 1 before the sequel. And if the film pushes you from the couch to the convention floor, our Demon Slayer collection covers the main characters, from Nezuko to the Hashira.

Common questions about the film and Netflix

Is the film included in a Netflix subscription?
Yes. Infinity Castle joins the catalog like any other film: no extra payment, whatever your Netflix plan. If you want to own it permanently, the digital purchase has been available on Apple TV and Prime Video since July 28, 2026.

Can you watch Infinity Castle on Crunchyroll in France?
No. France is one of the three territories excluded from Crunchyroll's July 28, 2026 release, along with Japan and mainland China, because of the French media chronology law. In France, Netflix is the only platform carrying the film, from September 28.

Does the film leave Crunchyroll in the US after September 28?
No. The Netflix release adds a platform and removes none. In the United States and every other country where Crunchyroll has streamed the film since July 28, 2026, it stays available on both services, each with the subtitled version and the local dub.

How long is the film?
2 hours and 35 minutes. That is far longer than a standard animated feature, because chapter 1 adapts several complete manga fights without cuts. Treat it as a full cinema session: the pacing leaves very few natural breaks.

Is the English dub available on Netflix?
The film reached streaming with subs and dubs in 16 languages, English included, and Crunchyroll has carried the English dub since July 28. Netflix lists language options per region, so check the film's page in the app on September 28 for the exact audio tracks where you live.

Do you need to watch all of Demon Slayer before the film?
Yes, and for this trilogy it is non-negotiable: the film opens with no recap, in direct continuity with the Hashira Training arc. At the very least, rewatch the latest season of the series. The manga is complete in 23 volumes if you prefer to catch up by reading.
