Team Rocket costume: going as Jessie and James, together

Published on October 21, 2026·By Antoine Brault

A French cosplay and manga goods shop since 2023. We try on the costumes we sell, and we write about the series we actually follow. About us.

Quick answer: the Team Rocket costume costs 89.99 euros per outfit, Jessie or James, in adult sizes XS to XXXL. James's purple wig sells on its own for 39.99 euros. No kids sizes on this listing, rated 4.7/5 across 15 reviews, with 3,414 pieces in stock as of October 21.

A white top, a red R, and everyone gets it before you say a word. That is the whole strength of this costume: it reads from across the room, and it is built for two. Here is exactly what each outfit includes, which size to pick according to the reviews, and what to realistically expect on shipping, with no sugarcoating.

What does the Team Rocket costume include, and at what price?

The listing offers three options in the same dropdown: Jessie's costume, James's costume, each at 89.99 euros, and James's wig alone at 39.99 euros. Prices checked on the listing this October 21.

Option Price What the listing photos show Sizes
Jessie costume 89.99 € cropped top with the red R, white skirt, long black gloves, black over-knee stockings XS to XXXL
James costume 89.99 € high-collar top with the red R, white trousers, purple belt, black gloves XS to XXXL
James wig alone 39.99 € mid-length purple wig, middle parting same dropdown, same price

The wigs are not included with the costumes: James's goes in the cart separately, and Jessie's is not in the catalogue at all, more on that below. On the fabric, Amelia, a customer from Mexico, sums up what we also see when unpacking these: the material feels fresh and does not stretch much, but wears comfortably. In other words: pleasant for a whole evening, but no elastic margin if your size is on the optimistic side.

Why go as Jessie and James as a pair?

Because it is one of the rare duo costumes where both roles are equally strong. Nobody plays the sidekick: Jessie gets the skirt and the long gloves, James gets the high collar and the purple belt, and the red R does the recognition work for both of you.

It is also the costume that comes with its own stage act. "Prepare for trouble... and make it double!": the motto Jessie and James have recited since the very first season takes five minutes to learn and makes a ready-made party entrance. In the reviews on the listing, William, a customer from Australia, describes exactly that scenario: "me and my friend got matching ones, but the skirt didn't end up fitting me, I should have got a large". Two lessons there: the duo works, and the skirt deserves a careful look at the size guide, which brings us to sizing.

Which size should you pick for the Team Rocket costume?

Take your usual size, the size guide on the listing is reliable. Jackson, a customer from Australia, writes: "The sizing guide was spot on." And above all, do not size up by reflex: Tom, from the Netherlands, paid for that one, "I'm a M but I ordered L because they said you need to order one size bigger. But don't do that", and his costume floated on him.

Two nuances from the same reviews. Jessie's skirt runs tighter than the rest: if you sit between two sizes, or if you are a man going for Jessie's outfit, size up for the skirt. And the fabric does not stretch much, which forgives very little. No kids sizes on this listing: the smallest option is an adult XS, workable for a teenager, not for a primary school kid. For a family outing, three outfits in our range come in true kids sizes, compared side by side in our guide to anime costumes in kids sizes.

Team Rocket wig: is James's worth it, and what about Jessie?

James's wig, purple with a middle parting, costs 39.99 euros and arrives deliberately long. Two reviews say it in two languages: Nico, from the Netherlands, "the wig is longer than I expected", and Pablo, from Spain, writes that his came a bit long and needs a trim. That is good news disguised as a flaw: a wig that is too long gets cut into James's bob in ten minutes, a wig that is too short cannot be grown back.

For Jessie, let us be honest: her wig is not in the catalogue, and her gravity-defying magenta mane is the genuinely hard part of the character. Three approaches, from simplest to most cosplay: a long red wig brushed back and set with strong hairspray, a light wire frame slipped into the sweep to hold the curve, or the assumed high-bun option, which everyone still recognises the second the R shows up. At a party, the costume does 90 percent of the work; at a convention, the sculpted wig is what makes the photos.

Who are Jessie and James, for anyone discovering them?

Jessie and James are the two Team Rocket agents who have been chasing Ash and his Pikachu since the second episode of the Pokémon anime, first aired in Japan on April 8, 1997. Flanked by Meowth, the talking Pokémon, they have botched every scheme for more than 25 years, and that is exactly why people love them.

Their other trademark: disguises. Every doomed plan comes with its own improbable outfit, ramen vendor, high-society trainer or contest judge, and nobody ever sees through any of them. Dressing up as Team Rocket means dressing up as the champions of dressing up, which is a nicely layered joke on October 31.

A page turned in 2023: the original series wrapped up with their final appearance, and Pokémon Horizons carries on without them. The duo has gone from running gag to pure nostalgia, and a Team Rocket costume now lands with thirty-somethings who grew up on the early seasons just as much as with teenagers meeting the pair in reruns.

Is Team Rocket still a thing in 2026?

Yes, and then some: they changed playground. In Pokémon GO, Team GO Rocket has been occupying PokéStops since July 2019, with Shadow Pokémon to wrestle away from the grunts. A red R on a glitching PokéStop has become a reflex for millions of players, and the game's Halloween event starts on October 27, right in the week of the 31st.

In practice, your costume speaks to three audiences at once: those who wore out the early seasons, those who hunt invaded PokéStops on their phone, and those who simply spot a red R and smile. Few outfits in our Pokémon selection cover a spread that wide.

Ordering now: the shipping truth

It is October 21, so let us say it plainly: allow up to 12 working days for delivery, an order placed today will arrive in early November, not for the 31st. We would rather lose an impulse sale than have you open the parcel on November 2 cursing our name.

The right way to look at it: a duo costume does not live for one night. November and December costume parties, winter conventions, photo shoots with friends, and next year's October 31: the red R will serve again. Shipping is free across the 53 countries of Europe, no minimum. And if you are wondering what could still arrive in time elsewhere in the shop, the honest answer is: nothing here either, delivery times are the same across the whole Halloween costume collection. To pick next year's outfit or your next convention look without the countdown, our guide to anime costumes for October 31 compares the ten most instantly recognisable ones.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know.

Does the Team Rocket costume come in kids sizes?

No. Both costumes and the wig start at adult XS and go up to XXXL. An XS can work for a teenager, not for a primary school kid. For a family outing, three outfits in our range come in true kids sizes: Obanai from 110 cm, Muichiro from 120 to 150 cm and Itachi in 135 and 155 cm.

Is the wig included with the costume?

No. The listing photos show the outfits alone: red-R top, skirt, long gloves and stockings for Jessie, high-collar top, trousers and purple belt for James. James's purple wig sells separately at 39.99 euros, in the same dropdown. Jessie's wig is not in the catalogue.

Can a man wear the Jessie costume?

Yes, and swapping the roles is part of the fun. An Australian customer describes ordering matching outfits with his friend and ending up squeezed into the skirt: if you are a man going for Jessie's outfit, take one size above your usual one, the skirt and the cropped top forgive very little.

What is the Team Rocket motto?

"Prepare for trouble... and make it double!" is the opening Jessie and James have recited since the first season of the anime. Learn it as a pair before the party: a duo delivering the motto on arrival lands better than any accessory.

Do Jessie and James still appear in the anime?

No. Their last appearance was in 2023, at the conclusion of the original series, and Pokémon Horizons carries on without them. The duo is still everywhere else though: Team GO Rocket has been occupying PokéStops in Pokémon GO since July 2019, and the game's Halloween event starts on October 27.

Will it arrive before October 31?

No, and we would rather tell you before you order: allow up to 12 working days, an order placed on October 21 arrives in early November. Aim for November costume parties, winter conventions and photo shoots: a duo costume gets worn far more often than one night a year. Shipping is free across the 53 countries of Europe.
