Quick answer: the easiest way to wear a Pokémon on Halloween is the onesie: six models in our range, from 49.99 euros for Squirtle, Umbreon and Snorlax to 60.99 euros for the larger Charizard and Gengar sizes, adult S to XXL, 149 reviews between 4.7 and 4.8/5. Ordered on October 31, it arrives for the November parties, not for tonight.
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and if you are reading this on the morning of the 31st looking for a costume, let us be straight with you: no parcel will reach your door before trick-or-treating starts. So this guide is written for two readers. The one planning a November pyjama party or a winter convention, and the one who wants to understand why, every year on the same date, Gengar is suddenly everywhere. Prices and sizes checked on the product pages this October 31, reviews quoted word for word.

Why is Gengar the Halloween Pokémon?
Because the Ghost type was born with it. In Pokémon Red and Green back in 1996, the Gastly, Haunter, Gengar line was the only ghost family in the game, and you met it in the Pokémon Tower of Lavender Town, a graveyard sitting in the middle of a children's game. Thirty years on, that grin is still the unofficial logo of every October.
Lavender Town's music did the rest: that high, uneasy theme fed enough urban legends that the Pokémon GO channel published its own remix of it, and the game's Halloween event still nods to it this year. As for Gengar, it no longer settles for haunting: during the second half of the event, from November 1 to 5, it shows up in costume itself, wearing its Spooky Festival outfit. When the ghost dresses up for Halloween, it is hard to be more on theme than wearing the ghost.

And if dancing ghosts speak to you more than scary ones, Pokémon Kids TV, The Pokémon Company's channel for younger fans, has a whole song about it: Ghost types trying to scare people, failing, and ending the night dancing together. Which is more or less the programme of a good Halloween party in a onesie.

Is the Charizard onesie worth it for Halloween?
The Charizard onesie is the most popular of the range: 31 reviews at 4.7/5. The listing starts at 54.99 euros in S, but fair warning, S is sold out as of October 31: count 56.99 euros in M up to 60.99 in XXL. This is the only part of the shop, along with the costumes, where the price follows the size, because the workshop charges for the extra fabric.
What customers say about it fits in two words, soft and warm. Amélie, from France, calls it "a gorgeous pyjama, true to the Charizard look". Inès: "incredibly soft, perfect for winter". Anissa does not wait for the 31st to wear hers: "ideal for chilly evenings at home". This is loungewear that doubles as a costume, not the other way round, and that is exactly what makes it good value: an Obanai costume sleeps in the wardrobe for eleven months, the Charizard onesie comes out every evening in December.

To finish the look without overdoing it, the Charizard pin at 12.99 euros goes on a bag or a jacket, 24 reviews at 4.7/5, and it stays there for the rest of the year.
Which Pokémon onesie should you pick: Gengar, Umbreon or Snorlax?
Pick by mood. The Gengar onesie is the true Halloween costume of the range, purple, grin included, 4.8/5 across 29 reviews and 54.99 euros in both S and M. Umbreon plays it dark and understated, Snorlax puts comfort first, Squirtle and Piplup bring colour to a group.
| Pokémon | The vibe | Price from S to XXL | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gengar | the Halloween ghost in person | 54.99 to 60.99 € | 4.8/5 from 29 |
| Charizard | the dragon everyone recognises | 54.99 to 60.99 €, S sold out | 4.7/5 from 31 |
| Umbreon | sleek, nocturnal, yellow rings | 49.99 to 54.99 €, XXL sold out | 4.7/5 from 24 |
| Piplup | the penguin that lightens the room | 51.99 to 53.99 €, XXL sold out | 4.8/5 from 28 |
| Squirtle | blue, simple, always right | 49.99 to 56.99 € | 4.8/5 from 21 |
| Snorlax | napping raised to an art form | 49.99 to 59.99 € | 4.7/5 from 16 |
Prices checked on October 31 on the listings, all remaining sizes in stock that day. One detail for latecomers: there is a single Gengar XXL left. Olivia Davis keeps it factual: "Great quality stitching and soft inside". Robert Miller adds the detail that matters: "My daughter loves the hood so much". And one French customer, Julie, left her review on an October 31, you could not script it: "Perfect for winter, keeps you really warm". On the Umbreon onesie, Olivia Brown sums it up: "Warm and cozy the Umbreon style is great". The rest of the range lives in the pyjama collection.
What size should you take, and is there a kids size?
All six listings run from S to XXL in adult cut, with a 3 to 10 euro gap between the smallest and the largest size depending on the model. There is no kids size below S: for a primary school kid, a proper costume in their size is the better call, and our kids anime costume guide compares what exists from 110 to 155 cm.
For adults, the loungewear rule applies: wear it loose, over a tee-shirt, and it goes on in thirty seconds, which Mariana, from Brazil, confirms in her own way: "comfortable and easy to put on, great for cold nights". Between two sizes, take the larger one, nobody has ever regretted a onesie that is too comfortable. On budget, the same kind of Gengar kigurumi sells for 80 to 100 dollars at the big American online costume shops; here the range runs from 49.99 to 60.99 euros, with free shipping across 53 European countries, no minimum.
Too late for tonight: what now?
We will own the answer: count up to 12 working days for delivery, an order placed on October 31 arrives around mid-November. But the Pokémon autumn does not stop at midnight. Pokémon GO's Halloween event plays its second half from November 1 to 5, with costumed Gengar and shiny Greavard on the bill. Pokémon Champions follows from November 13 to 16 with an online competition restricted to Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution, and Charizard and Gengar have both had their Mega forms for over a decade. Costume parties, meanwhile, run all the way to New Year's Eve.

Sableye and Greavard stretch Halloween to November 5 in Pokémon GO.
Further down the calendar, the Pokémon: Wild Card film lands in 2027 with Mimikyu top of the bill, the Pokémon that spends its whole life disguised as Pikachu: we cover it in detail in our Wild Card film article. Safe to say the costumed Pokémon theme has a future, and so does your onesie.

And for next year, two ideas that never miss: the Jessie and James duo, whose wigs and jackets our Team Rocket costume guide breaks down, or a whole group in mismatched onesies. The full tour of October 31 outfits, manga and anime included, is in our manga Halloween costume guide, and the whole section is gathered in the Halloween costumes collection.
