What has been announced for October 10, 2026?
A one-hour panel called "NARUTO: What's Next?" on the Empire Stage of the Javits Center, during New York Comic Con, which runs from October 8 to 11. Two confirmed guests, Junko Takeuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama, a door giveaway while supplies last, and a "new project" announcement that neither Shueisha nor VIZ Media has detailed.
It all started with a post from the English-language NARUTO account on August 19, shared the same day by VIZ Media, the manga's American publisher: "New York get ready. NARUTO is officially coming to NYCC on October 10th, 2026. Exciting new updates are expected to be revealed on the special stage!" The visual that goes with it, Naruto seen from behind and drawn by Masashi Kishimoto, carries the words "New project to be announced at New York Comic Con, 2026.10.10 (US)". Right after, naruto-official.com put up a countdown to the same date, and ReedPop, the convention's organiser, published the panel listing in its August 19 programme.
The description is short and I quote it in full, because every word counts: "Join us for an exclusive look at what's next for NARUTO with our guests, voice actors Junko Takeuchi (Naruto Uzumaki) and Noriaki Sugiyama (Sasuke Uchiha)! Get the latest updates on the anime, the NARUTO CARD GAME, and other exciting new projects. Plus, be among the first to see the new roadmap for the future of the NARUTO universe!" Three subjects are named: the anime, the card game, and "other projects". The word that interests me is "roadmap": a roadmap is a schedule, and Naruto has not had one since Boruto ended in 2023.

What time is the panel in your country?
The panel starts at 5 pm on Saturday October 10, New York time, which is still on daylight saving that day. In the UK that is 10 pm, in Central Europe 11 pm, also on summer time. In Mexico 3 pm, in Colombia and Peru 4 pm, in Argentina, Chile and Brazil 6 pm, on the US west coast 2 pm, and in Japan 6 am on Sunday the 11th.

Then there is the streaming question. As of August 30, neither ReedPop nor VIZ has said whether the panel will be broadcast. What I do know is what happened in 2025: ReedPop and the Nerdist site streamed everything on the Empire Stage and the Main Stage for free on YouTube, one feed per stage and per day, with replays reserved for Popverse subscribers and digital ticket holders. The Naruto panel is on the Empire Stage, so a live stream is the most likely scenario, but I will write it here once it is confirmed. Until then, the English NARUTO account and the Naruto site are the two sources that will speak first.
What could the panel announce? Confirmed versus rumoured
Six Naruto projects are on the table right now. Two have a date, three are confirmed without one, and only one is a rumour. The October 10 panel could give a date to the three that lack one, and that is where to look: the four anniversary episodes, part 2 of Boruto, and the live-action film.

The four anniversary episodes: three years of silence
These four episodes were announced for the anime's 20th anniversary, with a broadcast set for Sunday September 3, 2023 at 5:30 pm Japan time. On August 29, 2023, five days before, the production committee published a postponement with no new date: "We have decided to take extra time as we strive to further raise its quality." Since then, nothing. Not an image, not a date.
The statement spelled out why the project matters: it is both the 20th anniversary anime and "the first NARUTO series since Shippuden concluded", more than six years earlier. The committee promised that "a revised broadcast schedule will be announced on our official site and social media once it is finalized". Three years later, the promise still stands, and that is precisely the kind of announcement you save for a convention stage with the two lead voices in the room.

Two rumours are doing the rounds, and I give them for what they are. In late December 2025, the leak account SugoiLITE wrote that the four episodes were finished and aimed for late 2026. In January 2026, an administrative page from Lijin County, in China, listed the studio Huahan Animation as a subcontractor on Naruto, without saying on what. Neither piece of information has been confirmed by Studio Pierrot, TV Tokyo or Shueisha. If the panel gives a date, it will come from them, and it will be the first since 2023.
Boruto: a part 2 "in development" since 2023
The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime stopped on March 26, 2023 after 293 episodes, with the announcement that a part 2 was in development. It would adapt Two Blue Vortex, the manga's sequel, which continues in V Jump. No date, studio or format has been confirmed since.
The only clue about the format comes from an interview with Michiyuki Honma, the president of Studio Pierrot, published by Natalie in April 2024: he explained that he wanted to move away from the weekly model towards seasonal productions, in the manner of Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War. Pierrot is busy right now with part 4 of Bleach, airing since July, and with Black Clover, back in October on Crunchyroll. A Naruto schedule has to fit between those two jobs, which explains the silence as well as any theory.
On the manga side, the sequel moves at its own pace: chapter 37 of Two Blue Vortex has been pushed back to September 18, and Shueisha has put a manga presentation video on the MANGA Plus channel for those picking the story up after the anime.
The Naruto Card Game at NYCC: booth, demos and promo card
Bandai has booth 2705 at the Javits Center for all four days, with free NARUTO CARD GAME tutorial sessions, one per person, sign-up on site. Each player leaves with a CP-001 Chakra Card promo and a sticker, provided they register for the game's channel on the BANDAI TCG+ app and fill in a survey. The demo decks stay at the booth.

The game launches in summer 2027 worldwide at the same time, and this is its second public showing after Gen Con in late July. The rules have been known since July 29: a Leader card, a 51-card deck, 5 Chakra cards and 1 Summon card, and you win by bringing the opposing Leader's life to zero. Only one item is on sale at the booth: a playmat at 35 dollars plus tax, one per person, in limited quantities each day, and shipping in 2027 only. If the panel talks about the card game, what I am waiting for is a launch month and the name of the first set. And while waiting, the NARUTO NINJA CARDS app, launched on August 22, is already a digital card collection, with no rules link to the physical game.

The Kyoto show: what Naruto is preparing for 2027
Ninja Show NARUTO will run from February to June 2027 at the Minamiza, Kyoto's kabuki theatre. Without a word of dialogue: the story is told through action, acrobatics, aerial work, projection mapping and the kabuki stage machinery. It is the most advanced project on the list, announced on July 1, 2026 in Japan and July 8 for the rest of the world, and it does not depend on the panel.

It is directed by Go Ueki, who has already brought Attack on Titan and Sailor Moon to the stage, with Neil Dorward, formerly of Cirque du Soleil, as creative consultant, and Shinjiro Kameda writing. Naruto is played alternately by Yuri Takahashi and Ryuma Aoi, Sasuke by Rei, Sakura by Yui Oikawa, Kakashi by Hiroma. The show adapts Naruto's childhood, the arc everyone knows, and the production committee bills it as "the biggest ninja show in NARUTO history".

Seats sell for between 9,500 and 21,000 yen depending on the category, slightly more on public holidays, all reserved. The detailed calendar is only published for February and March so far. If you are planning a trip to Japan in spring 2027, this is the kind of date to lock in early: the Minamiza is small for a licence this size, and a show with no language barrier is aimed precisely at foreign visitors.

Why October 10, and why New York?
October 10 is Naruto Uzumaki's birthday, the date set by Masashi Kishimoto in the series' guidebooks, and fans celebrate it every year online. Picking that day for an announcement is no accident. And New York Comic Con turns twenty in 2026; it is the biggest convention on the east coast, the one where VIZ Media is a regular.
Naruto is not alone on the Empire Stage that weekend either. The day before, Friday October 9 at 12:45 pm, Toei Animation and Crunchyroll hold the One Piece panel there, and on Sunday the 11th at 3:30 pm, Mariya Ise, the voice of Emma in Tokyo Revengers, is the guest. For readers making the trip, those three panels run on three consecutive days in the same place.

A word on the live-action film, since it is on the list of possible subjects. Lionsgate handed it to Destin Daniel Cretton, the worldwide casting call opened on July 10, and Charles Melton is in talks to play Kakashi, with shooting announced for early 2027 in the United Kingdom. A casting announcement on the New York stage, with the Japanese voices of Naruto and Sasuke alongside, would fit that schedule. But that is my guess, not information.
One last, more down-to-earth detail. October 10 is also the day you see the most Naruto cosplays of the year, at conventions and online. In the shop, the Naruto wig at 34.99 euros is rated 4.8 out of 5 by fourteen customers, and Pain's ring at 12.99 euros is the most requested of the eight Akatsuki rings, with 24 reviews at 4.7 out of 5. With delivery at 7 to 21 days, an order in late September arrives for October 10, an order on the 8th does not. The Naruto range has sixteen items in all.

Will the Naruto panel at New York Comic Con be streamed live?
Nothing is confirmed for 2026 as of August 30. In 2025, ReedPop and Nerdist streamed the Javits Center's Empire and Main Stages for free on YouTube, and the Naruto panel is on the Empire Stage. The safest bet: check the Naruto site and the NARUTO (EN) account the day before, announcements are usually relayed within the hour.
Do Naruto's four anniversary episodes have a date?
No. They were due to air on September 3, 2023 at 5:30 pm Japan time, the production committee postponed them on August 29, 2023 to raise their quality, and no new date has been given since. The "late 2026" doing the rounds comes from leak accounts, not from Studio Pierrot or TV Tokyo.
Is a new Naruto anime confirmed?
Two projects are confirmed without a date: the four anniversary episodes, postponed since 2023, and part 2 of the Boruto anime, announced as "in development" when part 1 ended in March 2023. A third anime, a brand-new series or a remake, has never been announced: that is exactly what the October 10 panel could settle.
When does the Naruto Card Game come out?
